Kaydence Potratz

At just 19, Kaydence Potratz represents the next generation of Western makers, bringing fresh energy to traditional crafts while honoring time-tested techniques. A lifelong rodeo competitor who continues to ride, Kaydence understands firsthand the importance of quality gear and the connection between maker and user.

Her journey into silversmithing began in 2022 when master craftsman John Wright introduced her to metalwork through building and soldering bit swivels. That spark of interest grew into a full passion, and by January 2024, she launched 3 Bar Silver, dedicating herself completely to the craft. Self-taught from that point forward, Kaydence’s work has already earned recognition, with jewelry pieces featured at the prestigious J.M. Capriola.

Driven by a lifelong love of silver and turquoise, Kaydence committed to expanding her skillset this year by attending engraving classes at GRS. Just one week after returning from training, Wright invited her to create a bit for the CAGM contest – resulting in this remarkable first-time bit & entry that showcases both her natural talent and determined spirit.
