Western Trades Classes
The museum partners with artists, silversmiths, and makers to offer classes at the beginner to intermediate level. We plan on offering more silver engraving, rawhide, leatherwork and beading classes.
Classes are typically 2.5 day courses held at the Cowboy Arts & Gear Museum in Elko, Nevada. Please fill out the form below to get on the waitlist!
Current Western Trades Classes
A 2.5 day beading course taught by Elko’s very own, Victoria Jackson. Students will learn from beginning to end the process of beading a hat band on a loom, using traditional Shoshone methods. All supplies and looms will be provided.

Time: 9am-5pm on Monday/Tuesday, 9am-1pm on Wednesday

Cost: $500 per student

A 2 day Beginning Rawhide Braiding Workshop with Master Braider Bret Haskett at the Cowboy Arts & Gear Museum.
Course Description: The workshop is designed for the beginning braider to help with what is needed to process rawhide and produce string for braiding projects. Attendees are encouraged to bring any rawhide they are currently using and tools that they have for discussion purposes. Please feel free to call with any questions. Bret Haskett (208) 317-6932

A 2.5 day Silver Engraving Class with Master Silversmith Chris Cheney at the Cowboy Arts & Gear Museum. Welcome to all skill levels.
Project Offerings: Bracelet (subject to change)
